Love is in the air.

Bonjour mes amis!  Today, Academie Parc Monceau took a field trip to the Rive Gauche.  We started at the Place Saint-Michel where a fountain and spectacular statue of Saint Michael stands. The fountain was sadly not working and someone has graffitied the devil but we enjoyed looking at it.  Bryn wanted to know if that's what the devil really looks like.  She seemed worried she might bump into him around town.
We then strolled around Notre Dame but decided to take an inside tour on another day when the line isn't so long.  Nearby, the kids spotted the Lover's Lock Bridge - Pont de l'Archeveche and rushed over.  I don't think this was going on back when I was in Paris during college, but now the bridge is coated in monogrammed padlocks. Sweethearts and lovers lock their padlock onto the bridge and toss the keys into the Seine.  We found a bouquiniste selling locks so the kids decided to take part.  Bryn put her two best friends on a lock and Conrad proclaimed 'YOLO' and put a girl's initials on his.  I'll let you ask him who.
   Enjoy the sites from today...

  1. Great photos. The lovers locks are much like the ones found in Verona in Juliet's courtyard under her balcony.

  2. You're getting lots of exercise if you live on the 5th floor! The photos are great. And the food looks delicieux. Sounds like the kids are working hard at schoolwork too. Wish I was there!
