Bois de Boulogne

The kids haven't been responding as well as I had hoped, to looking at old buildings and walking half-marathons each day so I decided to try something different.  We went to the Bois de Boulogne.  It's a 2000 acre park just a few metro stops from us on the west side of town.  Well-known for prostitutes at dark, during the day the Bois is a lovely, family-friendly park with trails, streams, a zoo, soccer fields etc.
Or so I thought.  Apparently some of the ladies of the night were working overtime when we got there.  It was well after petit-dejeuner and several were hanging out along the road into the park.  Of course, this was very, very interesting to young Conrad.  He kept wanting to circle our bicycles back around to get a closer look and claims one of the gals waved at him.
In any case, it was a nice way to spend the afternoon with the kids. Fresh air and exercise always boosts my kids' moods and comes in second to wine in boosting mine.

Dinner tonight was found at a great italian shop with many dishes I've never seen before.  It's right around the corner so I'm sure we'll be going there a lot.  I chose arugula, artichoke and roasted tomato salad with olives.

  1. Looks like the bois will be a frequent excursion.

  2. Education comes in unexpected ways and source. The park offers a socio- cultural lesson not lost on teens and Tweens. Maybe research to establish a mission for exploration would inspire competitive learning and turn the finding the item or area within the building into an adventure. Great blog and wonderful pictures.
