Sunday on my street

Sundays in Paris are normally very quiet.  Most stores are closed, families sleep in, people meander through the parks.  It seems like a perfect, relaxing concept except when you are used to going to the grocery store at 4 o'clock on Sunday to pick up dinner stuff and some wine, that's when Sunday can make an American panic.  Me panicking sums up our first Sunday here.  I soon figured out that my street and the next one over, Rue de Levis, are actually very busy on Sunday... MORNINGS.
The Monoprix is ferme, Sephora is locked up, but on Sunday morning every butcher, fruit stand, fromagerie, and flower seller is calling out to me (literally) selling their goods.  There are accordion players and street performers too. I'm not sure exactly when the Sunday morning frenzy is shut down but I'm never going to head out past 10:00AM.  No more Sunday panic.

  1. It's because Sunday is family day. If you are cooking, you need to buy the food. If you are the guest, you need to bring flowers or something. So they are all open and do a great business. That was in the French book I'm reading.
