Les Invalides

Bonjour mes amis!  Today was a walking marathon for us but worth every step.  We started out today's adventure at the Arc de Triomphe again.  Dad is in town and is teaching the kids about French History so we made our way down the Champs Elysees, past the Grande Palais, headed over the Pont Alexandre III, and went to Les Invalides.
Les Invalides was first constructed by Louis XIV as a military hospital in the late 1600's.  Now it is a war museum, military retirement home/hospital, and the final resting place of Napoleon I.  The dome under which he is entombed was not constructed for him but rather was part of an original church that the invalids had to attend during their stay.
We were blown away by all of the armor on exhibit, the french military uniforms, the many accomplishments of Napoleon I, and the splendor of the crypt.
Wish you were...

Of course we had to stop into Laduree again

A military funeral was underway during our visit.
